About David Mathieson

I was born in 1967 and grew up in Dunblane, Scotland.

First started travelling at the age of sixteen and never stopped!

I started painting while travelling in India through a chance meeting with a Buddhist Monk who told me to look to my imagination for happiness and success in my life... I took his words... literally! 

Freescape Artist 

I call myself a 'Freescape Artist'. I take an idea and a feeling, mostly from my own personal experiences, and start painting!

I always find that an image starts to form within the oils on the canvas and like surfing, I catch the wave and go with the flow of the oil.

I love making mistakes, as these mistakes have come to give me my best works, as well as teaching me new methods and, above all...patience in being an artist.
